The key domestic benchmark indices opened lower in the morning trading session amid flattish trade in most markets across Asia and a bearish finish at Wall Street overnight as the latest batch of corporate earnings from Europe and the US signaled a mixed outlook for the world economy, while the rally in crude oil fizzled out amid doubts that leading producers will cut output, curbing risk taking appetite.

Shares of ACC, Wipro and Cairn India will be in focus as these companies reveal their September quarter earnings.

At 09:20 AM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28066.33 down by 63.51 points or by 0.23 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8684.35 points, trading lower by 15.05 points or by 0.17 per cent.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total 449 shares traded, 325 shares advanced, 91 shares declined while 33 were unchanged.

On the global front, Asian stocks were trading flat today as string of mixed corporate earnings and a drop in oil prices clouded the outlook for the global economy. US stocks closed lower in the previous trading session amid disappointing results from the likes of Verizon Communications Inc. and EBay Inc.
