Indian equities are poised to open lower on Monday tracking weak cues from fellow Asian markets. The market is likely to see thin trading as traders reluctant to buy risky assets ahead of the new year holidays. Bearish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for December delivery, which were trading at 7,964, down by 32 points or 0.40 per cent, at 10:38 AM Singapore time, also signalled a negative start for Sensex. On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly lower as investors took profit from recent gains in the holiday season. On Friday, the Indian equities ended in the positive territory after seven straight sessions of losses, with benchmark index Sensex again touching the psychological level of 26,000-mark, while NSE Nifty settled below its 8,000 mark led by early rollovers to January series and bargain hunting at lower levels. The 30-share benchmark index Sensex closed trade at 26,040.7, up by 61.1 points or 0.24 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 7,985.75, up by 6.65 points or 0.08 per cent. However, sustained capital outflows by foreign funds continued as Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election and rise in US interest rates, sparked outflows from emerging markets.
