Indian equities are poised to open lower on Monday, tracking weak cues from fellow Asian peers, as investors remained wary over US President Donald Trump’s protectionist policies and uncertainty over GAAR. Bearish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, which were trading at 8,620.00, down by 54.00 points or 0.63 per cent, at 10:40 AM Singapore time, also signaled a negative opening for Sensex. The market may see stock specific movement as over 100 companies would release their earnings report today which includes index heavyweights such as, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra and Pfizer.

On Friday, the Indian equities extended rally for the fourth straight session on the first trading session of February series F&O contracts as banking stocks extended rally on strong quarterly results, tracking firm cues from Asian peers. Private sector lender ICICI Bank surged nearly 5 per cent ahead of its third quarter result. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 27882.46, up by 174.32 points or by 0.63 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 8641.25, up by 38.5 points or by 0.45 per cent..

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were ICICI Bank Ltd. 81303314.00, ITC Ltd. 24497031.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 19584307.00, State Bank of India 18039379.00, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. 16301293.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 129.42 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 24587.82 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 217427 with a total turnover of Rs. 15336.47 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 663587 with a total turnover of Rs. 45586.58 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 2481160 with a total turnover of Rs. 175440.47 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 328260 with a total turnover of Rs. 23462.61 Crore.

The FIIs on 27/01/2017 stood as net buyer in equity but net seller in debt segment. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 8879.99 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 200.26 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 7645.91 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 784.51 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1234.08 Crore and Rs. -584.25.
