The Indian equities continued to trade higher in late morning deal on Monday, supported by gain across FMCG and consumer durables stocks, tracking firm cues from Asian peers. However, profit booking across broader market, with MidCap and SmalCap indices falling between 0.10 per cent - 0.4 per cent, capped bourses gain. Among the individual stocks, ITC rose over 5 per cent, hitting 52-week high, on the Bombay stock Exchange after the finance minister-led Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council approved the GST rates for goods at nil rate, 5 per cent, 12 per cent, 18 per cent and 28 per cent to be levied on certain goods.

 At 12:20 hour, the 30-share barometer SENSEX was trading at 30612.3, up by 147.38 points or by 0.48 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9459.25, up by 31.35 points or by 0.33 per cent.

In the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intra-day high of 30712.15 and intraday low of 30572.59, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9498.65 and intraday low of 9445. The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 300.25,+5.02%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 451.50,+1.93%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 355.90,+1.92%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1752.00,+1.62%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1022.90,+1.52%), among others. On the flip side, Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1265.40,-3.76%), State Bank of India (Rs. 299.15,-2.92%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 639.70,-1.95%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 202.20,-1.80%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1312.00,-1.58%), were among the top losers on BSE. On the sectoral front, FMCG and consumer durables stocks emerged as top gainers, rising as much as 2.78 per cent and 1.01 per cent, respectively. The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2754, shares advanced were 1138 while 1440 shares declined and 176 were unchanged.
