* AGRICULTURE: Waiver of farm loans is not a solution to tackle the any distress in the agricultural
sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.

* AUTOMOBILE: Hyundai Motors India's domestic vehicle sales rose 4.8% on year to 42,093 units in December. Honda Cars India's domestic sales rose 4% on year in December to 13,139 units.

* AVIATION: Air India, which is going through an extremely difficult financial situation, is working to improve services as well as expand domestic and international routes, chief Pradeep Singh Kharola said. The government raised a record 774.17 bln rupees from sale of its stake in public sector units in 2018, and in 2019, it plans privatisation of Air India.

* BANKING: The Reserve Bank of India has allowed a one-time restructuring of 'standard' stressed
loans to micro, small and medium enterprises, without downgrading their asset classification to nonperforming.

* INSURANCE: Life Insurance Corp of India's Managing Director Hemant Bhargava has taken
additional charge as chairman from Tuesday.
