The key domestic benchmark indices were trading in a positive terrain in the afternoon trading session on account of buying in frontline blue chip counters.

A positive trend across markets in Asia and a strong finish at Wall Street overnight due to a rally in crude oil prices to near a 15-month high following a surprise drop in US storage levels last week bolstered risk taking appetite.

Shares of RIL, Yes Bank and Biocon will be in focus as these companies reveal their September quarter earnings.

At 12:20 AM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28115.26 up by 130.89 points or by 0.47 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8687.9 points, trading higher by 28.8 points or by 0.33 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 28212.5 and an intraday low of 28031.57 while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 8727 and an intraday low of 8685.05

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 275.40,+3.92 per cent), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 279.60,+3.04 per cent), State Bank of India (Rs. 260.00,+2.04 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 430.80,+1.26 per cent), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1358.40,+1.21 per cent), among others.

Meanwhile, ITC Ltd. (Rs. 238.55,-0.52 per cent), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1506.45,-0.37 per cent), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 843.50,-0.30 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 748.50,-0.25 per cent), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 493.65,-0.18 per cent), were among the top losers on BSE.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total 2842 shares traded, 1586 shares advanced, 1044 shares declined while 212 were unchanged.

On the global front, Asian stocks were trading higher today propelled by strong US earnings and oil prices near a 15-month high, as the third and final US presidential debate before the November 8 election ended. US stocks closed higher in the previous trading session as a rally in crude prices bolstered shares of energy producers while better-than-expected earnings lifted bank shares.
