Pre-Session: Positive start on cards for domestic indices today

Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day in green on Friday. Investors will today track the Economic Survey for 2019-20, which is slated to be released later in the day. Further, Union Budget 2020-21, which will be presented on Saturday, February 1 will continue to keep markets on the edge.

Besides, latest update on coronavirus, crude oil prices, Brexit, and next batch of quarterly numbers are also expected to guide investor sentiment throughout the day. The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday it was declaring the coronavirus outbreak that has killed 170 people in China a global emergency, as cases spread to at least 18 countries.

On the result front, State Bank of India (SBI), Hindustan Unilever (HUL), ITC, Tech Mahindra, and Vedanta Ltd are among 109 companies that are scheduled to announce their December quarter results today.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 40913.82 down by 284.84 points or by 0.69 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12035.8 down by 93.7 points.

Pre-Session: Benchmark indices likely to open lower on Tuesday

Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day in red on Tuesday as investors will track newsflow regarding the spread and impact of coronavirus - which has claimed 106 lives in China thus far -- during today's session. They will also react to the corporate earnings and stock-specific action.

As many as 65 companies including Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, Mastek, Cummins India, and JK Lakshmi Cement are scheduled to announce their December quarter results later in the day.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 41155.12 down by -458.07 points or by -1.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12119 down by -129.25 points.

Pre-Session: Gap-down start likely for Sensex, Nifty on Monday

Indian benchmark indices are expected to open lower on Monday. The pre-Budget buzz and the ongoing corporate results will be the top factors giving direction to the markets today. Traders will also track the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, which has killed 80 people in China and rattled investors globally.

Investors will react to ICICI Bank's Q3 results on Monday. A total of 58 companies, including Torrent Pharma, Dr Reddy's, and HDFC are scheduled to announce their December quarter results today.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 41613.19 up by 226.79 points or by 0.55 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12248.25 up by 67.9 points.

* BHARTI AIRTEL: Has requested the Department of Telecommunications to wait till next week for
payment of past dues as the Supreme Court is set to hear its petition seeking more time to pay the dues.

* CG POWER AND INDUSTRIAL SOLUTIONS: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has sought approval from the National Company Law Tribunal to appoint an independent auditor for reopening accounts of the company.

* COFFEE DAY ENTERPRISES: The company will sell Way2Wealth Securities including some of its subsidiaries to Shriram Ownership Trust, a promoter of Shriram Capital.

* DLF: Plans to invest 50 bln rupees to develop a 6.8 mln sq ft information technology park in Chennai, making the south Indian city its second-largest market after Gurugram.

* GAIL INDIA: The company has moved the Supreme Court against demand notices totalling 1.83 trln rupees that it received from the Department of Telecommunications following the apex court's judgement on adjusted gross revenue of telecom companies.

* HFCL: The company has commissioned and commenced commercial production at its greenfield optical fibre manufacturing unit in Hyderabad, Telangana.

* HDFC BANK: Will retain global executive search firm Egon Zehnder to find a successor to managing director Aditya Puri, as its board seeks to end an impasse and zero in on a candidate.

* HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FINANCE CORP: Plans to raise at least 25 bln rupees through bonds maturing in 17 months and has invited bids on Monday.

* ICICI BANK: The bank-led banking consortium of lenders to ABG SHIPYARD has declared its 140-blnrupee exposure to the company as a 'fraud' account. STATE BANK OF INDIA, the bank, and IDBI BANK have the lion's share of exposure--in excess of 50%.

* INDIABULLS HOUSING FINANCE: Credit Suisse (Singapore) bought 2.2 mln shares, representing 0.53% stake, of the company at 311.68 rupees per share through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange.

* INFO EDGE INDIA: The company has set up an alternative investment fund--Info Edge Venture Fund-- and invested 1 bln rupees in the same.

* INFOSYS: The Securities and Exchange Board of India is likely to call for a forensic audit of the 
books of the company as it continues to probe whistleblower allegations of alleged financial irregularities.

* INTERGLOBE AVIATION: Yet another snag-prone Pratt and Whitney engine of IndiGo A320 Neo, on flight 6E-5384, stalled soon after taking off from Mumbai for Hyderabad in the early hours of Thursday.

* IPCA LABORATORIES: The National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai, has approved the company's resolution plan for Noble Explochem.

* JK LAKSHMI CEMENT: The board will meet on Tuesday to consider raising funds through external commercial borrowings.

* JSW STEEL: An appellate tribunal said it would give a last chance to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the corporate affairs ministry and the Enforcement Directorate to address whether the company, the successful resolution applicant for debt-ridden Bhushan Power and Steel, should be held liable for prosecution for offences committed by the erstwhile management of Bhushan Power.

* KEI INDUSTRIES: The company will raise funds by way of issue of shares through qualified institutional placement that opened today at a floor price of 518.14 rupees per share.

* MAHINDRA HOLIDAYS & RESORTS INDIA: Is looking to acquire stressed assets in the hospitality sector across different parts of the country, including Kashmir.

* MCDOWELL HOLDINGS: Suresh Poonati on Thursday bought 72,312 shares, representing 0.5% stake, of the company at 24.48 rupees per share through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange.

* OIL & NATURAL GAS CORP: Has received bids for 50 of the 64 small and marginal oil and gas fields it has offered in a first-of-its-kind round of bidding to raise production by involving private companies.

* OIL INDIA: The government of Assam is willing to pay 20 bln rupees for additional 13.6% stake in Numaligarh Refinery, which has a 3 mln tn per annum petroleum refinery. Currently, the state government owns 12.4% stake in the refinery and 26% is held by the company. BHARAT PETROLEUM CORP owns 61.7% stake in Numaligarh Refinery.
The Assam government has requested the Centre to divest BHARAT PETROLEUM CORP's stake in
Numaligarh Refinery to the company.

* PERSISTENT SYSTEMS: The company and ValidSoft have jointly developed a secure digital voice authentication system for continuous user validation which will be integrated with Persistent System's banking solutions.

* REC: Plans to raise at least 10 bln rupees through bonds maturing on Mar 31, 2030, and has invited bids for the same on Monday.

* RELIANCE INDUSTRIES: Reliance Digital will offer 'unbelievable deals and amazing cashbacks' on electronic products at its "Digital India Sale" from Jan 24-26.
Reliance Jio Infocomm became the only telecom company to meet the deadline for the payment of adjusted gross revenue dues, paying 1.95 bln rupees on Thursday.
Shares of Reliance Retail, the unlisted arm of the company, rebounded sharply in the unofficial grey market on Thursday after the company tweaked the terms of a restructuring agreement.

* RELIANCE POWER: Axis Trustee Services has sold 17.2 mln shares, representing 0.6% stake, of the company at 2.15 rupees per share through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange.

* SP APPARELS: The company's board has decided to sell its retail division to SP Retail Brands Ltd for 810 mln rupees on a slump sale basis.

* SPICEJET: Expects a "substantial" profit hit from the grounding of Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft, Chairman Ajay Singh said on Thursday.

* STERLING AND WILSON SOLAR: Kenneth Andrade's Old Bridge Capital Management has written to the Securities and Exchange Board of India, accusing the Shapoorji Pallonji group of suppressing "material information" in the initial public offering prospectus of the company.

* SUBEX: The company has executed settlement agreement with two former directors for a full and final consideration of 105.5 mln rupees to resolve pending litigations.

* TVS MOTOR CO: Has been granted a patent for a device to determine the reduced carbondioxide
emissions from an electric vehicle compared to carbondioxide emissions from a standard petrol vehicle.

* AVIATION: Go Airlines (India)-run GoAir has suspended some flight operations on account of delays in engine and aircraft deliveries.

* BANKING: Reserve Bank of India has notified revised rules allowing foreign portfolio investors to
increase their short-term investment in domestic bonds.

* COMMODITY: MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad, a major sugar producer in Malaysia, has announced 130,000 tn of raw sugar procurement from India. The value of the import has been estimated at 200 mln ringgits (about 3.5 bln rupees).

* ECONOMY: The Reserve Bank of India has raised the investment limit for foreign portfolio investors in the Indian debt market under the voluntary retention route to 1.5 trln rupees from 750 bln rupees.

* INSURANCE: Life Insurance Corp of India's gross non-performing assets fell to 255.5 bln rupees as on Sep 30 from 260.6 bln rupees a quarter ago.

* NON-BANKING FINANCIAL COMPANY: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has sought an approval from the National Company Law Tribunal to dispose of non-core assets of IL&FS Financial Services
entities and shares of some companies held by them.

* OIL AND GAS: Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said demand notices issued by the
Department of Telecommunications to non-telecom public sector companies appear to be due to some
miscommunication and the companies as well as the petroleum ministry are in talks with the telecom
department to sort out the matter.

* SUGAR: MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad, a major sugar producer in Malaysia, has announced 130,000 tn raw sugar procurement from India. The value of the import has been estimated at 200 mln ringgits (about 3.5 bln rupees).

* TELECOMMUNICATIONS: The telecom department won't take any coercive action, for now, against companies that fail to meet Thursday's deadline to clear past dues arising out of a Supreme Court order on adjusted gross revenue formula.
-Bharat Sanchar Nigam has launched a new business partnership model to provide last-mile
broadband connectivity to rural homes of India under the "Bharat AirFibre" brand.

* ADANI GREEN ENERGY: Moving away from polluting coal, billionaire Gautam Adani on Wednesday laid out a blueprint to make his group the world's largest solar power company by 2025 and the biggest renewable energy firm by 2030 through an aggressive push on capacity addition in these areas.

* ADANI PORTS AND SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE: The company's Mundra port has received its first cargo of liquefied natural gas paving way for the commissioning of long-delayed 5-mtpa joint venture-- GSPC LNG--next month.
-The company is set to buy an under-construction greenfield commercial port in Kakinada and the
adjoining special economic zone in Kona village in Thondangi mandal of East Godavari district, promoted by the Hyderabad-based GMR Group.

* ALOK INDUSTRIES: The National Company Law Tribunal's Ahmedabad bench has approved the
lender's resolution plan for the company.

* ASHIANA HOUSING: Has announced 'Ashiana Amantran' project in Jaipur and received registration under the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act, 2016, for phase one of the project.

* ASIAN PAINTS: The board has approved merger of wholly-owned subsidiary--Reno Chemicals
Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics--with the company.

* AVENUE SUPERMARTS: The company's promoter acquiring the shares of SPENCER'S RETAIL have fuelled speculation of a likely alliance or consolidation of some operations between the two companies, with a merger being a remote possibility.

* BALLARPUR INDUSTRIES: Has been taken to the bankruptcy court by lenders led by non-banking finance company Finquest Financial Solutions.

* CARE RATINGS: Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP sold 800,000 shares or 2.7% stake in the company at 658.03 rupees per share through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange.

* CEAT: The company's board has approved raising up to 5 bln rupees through the issue of non-convertible debentures on a private placement basis, in tranches.

* CREDITACCESS GRAMEEN: Shareholders of Madura Micro Finance will get 157 shares of the
company for every 100 shares held by them on the former's merger with the latter.

* DEWAN HOUSING FINANCE CORP: Fixed deposit holders of the company have approached the
Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the company's plans to resume lending.

* EMAMI: The Emami Group is in talks to raise 15 bln rupees through placement of non-convertible
debentures and sell its 400-bed hospital in Bhubaneswar for about 3 bln rupees to help reduce promoters' pledged shares and become debt-free, two senior industry executives said.

* FORCE MOTORS: Has set itself a target to grab 10% of global van sales in the coming three to five years, after having captured over 60% share in the local market.

* GAIL INDIA: At least five non-telecom public sector firms including the company, POWER GRID CORP OF INDIA and OIL INDIA are filing separate applications in the Supreme Court seeking clarification on the applicability of the apex court's Oct 24 order on payment of licence fee dues.
The company plans to invest over 450 bln rupees over the next five years to expand the National Gas
Pipeline Grid and city gas distribution network to help push for greater use of environment-friendly fuel, its chairman Ashutosh Karnatak said.

* GAYATRI PROJECTS: Authum Investment and Infrastructure and Mentor Capital sold 4.3 mln shares or 2.3% stake in the company through open market on Tuesday.

* HCL TECHNOLOGIES: Said its President and Chief Executive Officer C. Vijayakumar has been named chairman of the IT industry Governors community of the World Economic Forum. The announcement was made at the forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
-The company plans to nearly double its campus recruits to 15,000 in 2020-21 (Apr-Mar), from
8,600 this financial year.

* HINDUSTAN FLUOROCARBONS: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the closure of the company.

* HINDUSTAN PETROLEUM CORP: Plans to raise at least 2 bln rupees through bonds maturing on Apr 12, 2023, and has invited bids for the same on Monday.

* HINDUSTAN ZINC: Production of zinc fell 5% on year to 178 tn in Oct-Dec, while silver output was down 16% at 149 tn.

* HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORP: As on Dec 31, loan disbursement for 2019-20 (Apr- Mar) was at 60.1 bln rupees, while loan sanctions were at 74.9 bln rupees.

* IL&FS TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS: Subsidiary ITNL Road Infrastructure Development Co will receive 1.44 bln rupees as settlement from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for foreclosure of the Beawer-Gomti road concession agreement.

* INDIAN OIL CORP: Has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ghana's National Petroleum Authority to offer assistance and technical expertise to the country in implementing its National LPG Promotion Policy.

* INFOSYS: Has an extremely strong deal pipeline, Chief Executive Officer Salil Parekh told.

* ITI: Fixed the price band of its 180-mln-share follow-on public offering at 72-77 rupees a share. The stateowned company will raise 12.96 bln rupees at the lower end of the band and 13.86 bln rupees at the upper end.

* KARNATAKA BANK: The board will meet on Monday to consider various options for capital
augmentation.

* NBCC INDIA: The company, which was selected to acquire debt-hit realty developer JAYPEE
INFRATECH, is ready with a backup plan in case it does not get 7.50 bln rupees of JAIPRAKASH
ASSOCIATES.

* OIL INDIA: Has urged the Supreme Court to clarify that its order on adjusted gross revenue is not
applicable on the revenue generated by from oil and gas business.
-Moody's Investor Service has said that demand notices received by the company from the
Department of Telecommunications seeking statutory dues of over 480 bln rupees is credit negative for the public sector upstream oil company, and highlighted the risks associated with an "unpredictable regulatory environment in India".
-The company has said that the Department of Telecommunications' demand seeking 401.08 bln
rupees as adjusted gross revenue and other telecom dues "would lead to permanent shutting down" of the company.

* PIRAMAL ENTERPRISES: Has agreed to invest 5 bln rupees to expand its active pharmaceutical
ingredients facility in Telangana, the state Industry Minister K.T. Rama Rao said in a press release.
-The Piramal Group has agreed to invest 5 bln rupees in Telangana over the next three years.
-Piramal Realty will invest 15 bln rupees to develop Piramal Vaikunth, a 32-acre value housing
project at Thane in Maharashtra.

* RBL BANK: The bank on Wednesday approved reappointment of Rajeev Ahuja as executive director with effect from Feb 21, subject to approval from the Reserve Bank of India.

* RELIGARE ENTERPRISES: The Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police is probing the role of top executives at the company and its lending arm, Religare Finvest, in allegedly facilitating approval of loans to some shell companies with little scrutiny.

* SHRIRAM TRANSPORT FINANCE CO: The issue of non-convertible debentures scraped through as many investors gave the offering a miss in the absence of topnotch rating.

* SICAL LOGISTICS: YES BANK sold 448,265 shares or 0.76% stake in the company at 13.49 rupees per share through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange.

* TATA COMMUNICATIONS: Said it has made no provision for the telecom department's demand of 66.33 bln rupees for adjusted gross revenue dues as the Supreme Court order did not include the company's appeal, which is still pending before the court.

* TATA MOTORS: Jaguar Land Rover is set to cut jobs through a major overhaul in shift patterns at its Halewood factory in the UK--a move that could leave hundreds of the company's staff unemployed.
-Was slow to launch cars with Bharat Stage-VI emission norms, but expects the delay to turn into an
advantage as its BS-VI cars will have newer technological features than competitors', said Mayank Pareek, president of passenger vehicle unit of the company.
-Vehicle safety group Global NCAP said the company's compact cars Tiago and sedan Tigor
achieved four-star rating for adult occupant protection in a crash test.
PMI Electro and BYD-Olectra have won large contracts floated by state transport agencies for supply of electric buses under a government scheme to promote green mobility, followed by the company, JBM AUTO and Mytrah.

* TATA STEEL BSL: The Supreme Court has stayed a recovery suit filed by an operational creditor against erstwhile Bhushan Steel, which was taken over by TATA STEEL in May 2018.

* UPL: Confirmed that Income Tax department did conduct a search at their offices and departments.

* V-MART RETAIL: Foreign portfolio investor Steadview Capital Mauritius sold 1.7% stake or 312,816 shares of the company at 1,885 rupees per share via bulk deal on the BSE.

* VADILAL INDUSTRIES: The feuding promoters of the company are in advanced talks to sell their entire stake in the ice cream maker and its domestic distribution business to a combine of Arpwood Partners and PAG.

* VODAFONE IDEA: The company informed the Department of Telecommunications that it will wait for the Supreme Court's decision on adjusted gross revenue modification pleas, implying that it won't make any payments to the government by the Jan 23 deadline.

* ZEE ENTERTAINMENT ENTERPRISES: Punit Goenka, the CEO of the company, on Wednesday said the company expected to recover trade receivables of 7.50 bln rupees from two entities over the next 12-24 months.

* ZOTA HEALTHCARE: Has received five-year product registration licences from Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority for Zotalol and Carbamazepine tablets. The licences are also renewable.

* EXCHANGES: The National Stock Exchange and the BSE notified that trading sessions on the exchanges will remain open on Feb 1, a Saturday, on account of the presentation of Union Budget for 2020-21 (Apr- Mar).

* INFRASTRUCTURE: The road sector expects increased budgetary allocation for Ministry of Road
Transport and Highways and its executing authority National Highways Authority of India in the upcoming Union Budget for 2020-21 (Apr-Mar).

* TAXATION: The government has extended the deadline to file GSTR-3B returns by two to four days for taxpayers with less than 50-mln-rupee annual turnover, a finance ministry release said. This comes after traders and industry complained facing difficulties in filing returns on the Goods and Services Tax Network.

* TELECOMMUNICATION: The telecom industry, which is under unprecedented financial strain, is
looking forward to the Union Budget for 2020-21 (Apr-Mar) for some relief measures which should give the sector a breathing space.
-In a reply to a notice by the Bombay High Court, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
defended its Jan 1 order through which it seeks to ensure that rates of television channels on an a-la-carte basis are not exorbitant compared to bouquet offers.

Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to start on flat note today

Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day on flat note on Thursday. Stock-specific action on the back of quarterly results is likely to dominate investor sentiment today. Besides, shares of L&T, and RBL Bank, among others may also hog the limelight during the session.

As many as 50 companies including Biocon, Canara Bank, HDFC Life, PVR Ltd, PNB Housing Finance, and Oriental Bank of Commerce are scheduled to announe their Q3 results today.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 41115.38 down by -208.43 points or by -0.5 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12106.9 down by -62.95 points.

Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open higher on Wednesday

Indian benchmark indices are expected to open higher on Wednesday. Corporate results and stock-specific action will dominate investor sentiment today. Market participants will first react to the results announced after market hours yesterday. Zee Entertainment posted a 37 per cent year-on-year decline in profit before tax to Rs 510.8 crore for the third quarter, as revenue dipped 5.5 per cent to Rs 2,048.7 crore.

Today, a total of 36 companies, including Asian Paints, Axis Bank, and Larsen & Toubro are scheduled to announce their December quarter results. A stable quarterly performance could be in the offing for private lender Axis Bank, which, analysts say, could report up to 61 per cent year-on-year jump in net profit at Rs 2,705.4 crore for the December quarter.

On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 41323.81 down by -205.1 points or by -0.49 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12169.85 down by -54.7 points.
