The key domestic benchmark indices continued to hover in red during the noon trading session on account of profit booking amid subdued global markets.

At 12:26 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 27991.46 down by 138.38 points or by 0.49 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8664.3 down by 35.1 points or by 0.4 per cent.

In the choppy trade so-far, Sensex touched an intraday high of 28163.41 and an intraday low of 27957.92, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8709.1 and intraday low of 8652.05.

The sentiments remained pessimistic rupee fell further against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased demand for the American currency from importers.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3130.55,+1.78%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 442.10,+0.89%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 848.00,+0.89%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2412.45,+0.53%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 240.40,+0.46%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 576.50,-3.12%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1062.00,-2.43%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 525.95,-2.38%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1337.35,-1.60%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1148.95,-1.56%), among others.

Among the sectors, Metal index was at 10273.53 down by -105.05 points or by -1.01%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 151.90,-2.16%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 202.95,-1.98%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 245.30,-1.84%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1721.60,-1.10%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 423.80,-1.09%),.

However, some buying was seen in BSE Realty index was at 1551.16 up by 13.1 points or by 0.85%. Unitech Ltd. (Rs. 6.23,+4.18%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 365.25,+1.39%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 80.80,+1.38%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 84.70,+1.38%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 155.80,+1.30%),. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2783 , shares advanced were 1308 while 1254 shares declined and 221 were unchanged.
