The Indian equities were trading flat with marginal gain in volatile trade on Tuesday as investors weighed contraction in India’s manufacturing activity in the month of July. India’s manufacturing activity contracted in July to 47.9, down from 50.9 in June, its lowest mark since February 2009, amid decline in new orders and output. The investors also remained wary ahead of the outcome of the RBI policy review which begins today. Maruti Suzuki India gained over 2 per cent, hitting 52-week high in intra-day, after the country’s largest car maker reported registered a growth of 22 per cent in July sales at 153,298 passenger vehicles against 125,764 units in July 2016.

At 12:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 32524.23, up by 9.29 points or by 0.03 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 10086.1, up by 9 points or by 0.09 per cent.

In the day’s trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 32615.45 and intraday low of 32462.25, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10101.9 and intraday low of 10065.75.

Asian Hotels (West) tumbled nearly 7 per cent on the Bombay stock Exchange after the Reserve Bank of India barred Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to buy fresh stake in the company.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2446.50,+2.56%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7880.05,+2.23%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1427.00,+1.78%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 293.55,+1.57%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1170.25,+1.47%), among others.

On the flip side, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1760.00,-1.46%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1176.35,-1.32%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 167.40,-1.15%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1146.50,-1.12%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1002.70,-0.85%), were among top losers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, auto and metal stocks were among top gainers on BSE, rising as much as 1.39 per cent and 0.85 per cent respectively.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2630, shares advanced were 1123 while 1348 shares declined and 159 were unchanged.
