Shares of the IT major may trade actively today after an independent probe conducted by Infosys’ Audit Committee gave a clean chit to the company on the whistleblower allegations. That apart, Q3 numbers, too, were satisfactory on multiple counts, as per analysts.

Pre-Session: Gap-up start likely for Sensex, Nifty today
09/01/2020 08:31
Indian benchmark indices are expected to open higher on Thursday as rebound in global markets and crude oil price retreat are likely to boost investor sentiment. The United States and Iran backed away from the brink of further conflict in the Middle east as US President Donald Trump said Iran’s missile strikes had not harmed any Americans and that Tehran appeared to be "standing down". On its part, Iran has offered no immediate signal it would retaliate further to the January 3 strike.

Oil reversed its gains and now sits cheaper than it was before the killing of the Iranian commander, Qassem Soleimani. Brent futures nursed overnight losses of 4 per cent to trade at $65.44 per barrel.

Besides this, investors will now shift their focus to the December quarter results and pre-Budget newsflow. Stock-specific development, the Rupee's trajectory, and foreign fund flows will also affect sentiment.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 40817.74 down by -51.73 points or by -0.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12025.35 down by -27.6 points.

Pre-Session: Subdued opening on cards for Sensex, Nifty today
06/01/2020 08:32
Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day on subdued note on Monday. US-Iran tensions, oil prices and movement of rupee against the US dollar, macro-economic data, and stock-specific developments are likely to impact investor sentiment today.

Global markets were thrown into fresh turmoil on Friday after top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike in Iraq. The risk of possible retaliation from Iran is expected to keep the crude prices and the Rupee's level volatile which will have a direct bearing on the equity markets.

Further, Markit Services PMI for December 2019 is scheduled to be unveiled today. In November, Nikkei India Services Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) improved to 52.7, up from 49.2 in October.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will carry out its third round of simultaneous purchase and sale of government securities today. The central bank would purchase Rs 10,000 crore worth of long-term government bonds and sell an equivalent amount of short-term securities.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 41464.61 down by -162.03 points or by -0.39 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12226.65 down by -55.55 points

Pre-Session: Flat opening on cards for Sensex, Nifty on Friday
03/01/2020 08:36
Indian benchmark indices are expected to start the day on flat note on Friday. A surge in crude oil prices may impact investor sentiment today despite a buoyant mood in the global markets. Oil prices jumped more than $1 on Friday after a US airstrike killed key Iranian and Iraqi military personnel, raising concerns that escalating Middle East tensions may disrupt oil supplies, news agency Reuters reported. Brent crude futures climbed $1.23 at $67.48 a barrel.

Besides, investors will also follow individual stock developments and any pre-budget news flow for further clues.

In another development, the Reserve Bank will carry out another round of special simultaneous open market operation to buy and sell government bonds of Rs 10,000 crore each on Monday.

The rupee lost 16 paise to close at 71.38 against the US dollar on Thursday as steady rise in crude oil prices and stronger dollar against key global currencies weighed on sentiment.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 41630.33 up by 324.31 points or by 0.79 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12282.2 up by 99.7 points.
