Indian equities are set to continue their gaining streak on Wednesday after a strong pullback rally yesterday, despite muted cues from global markets as traders returned to their desk after Christmas and Boxing Day holidays. Overseas, the Asian markets were trading lower, while Wall Street ended higher in overnight trade. The investors would also react to rally in crude oil prices after Venezuela decided to cut output in New Year. The market may also see some volatility as trader will rollover their positions ahead of derivative expiry of December series scheduled on Thursday. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for December delivery, which were trading at 8,035.50, up by 18 points or 0.22 per cent, at 10:50 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive start for Sensex.

On Tuesday, Indian equity ended on robust note, with benchmark index Sensex rising nearly 406 points higher, while NSE Nifty rebounded from a 7-month low hit in the previous session, as investors bought shares of blue-chip stocks such as ITC, Lupin, Cipla, APSEZ etc that were recently hit. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 26,213.44, up by 406.34 points or 1.57 per cent, while the NSE Nifty ended at 8,032.85, up by 124.6 points or 1.58 per cent.

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were ITC Ltd. 15605810.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 10782163.00, State Bank of India 8756536.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 8267726.00, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. 5604754.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 70.86 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 14367.64 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 349972 with a total turnover of Rs. 21993.28 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1041235 with a total turnover of Rs. 62785.63 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 5873844 with a total turnover of Rs. 369473.40 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 371548 with a total turnover of Rs. 24829.87 Crore.
