The Indian benchmark indices slipped in the negative terrain in the late morning deal on Tuesday, weighed down by losses in capital goods and pharma stocks, tracking weak cues from Asia peers. Idea Cellular rallied over 7 per cent after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the proposed merger between Vodafone India. Among others, Bharti Infratel soared nearly 4 per cent after the company’s consolidated revenue rose by 10 per cent to Rs 3,524 crore in Q1 FY18 from Rs 3,211 crore in Q1 FY17.

At 12:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 32216.11, down by 29.76 points or by 0.09 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9955.25, down by 11.15 points or by 0.11 per cent.

The Asian stocks were trading mostly lower, barring Japan’s Nikkei 225, as traders awaited the outcome of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting which will begin later today, and release of US second-quarter GDP due this week, while uncertainty over the Trump administration's policies also dented investor sentiment.
