Mid-Session: Sensex remains sluggish; Nifty below 9500

The key domestic benchmark indices were trading lower during the noon trading session with the Nifty struggling below 9500 level following correction in Asian peers.
At 12:10 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 30812.46 down by 45.06 points or by 0.15 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 9483.2 down by 20.9 points or by 0.22 per cent.
In the choppy trade so-far, Sensex touched an intraday high of 30829.4 and an intraday low of 30680.66, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 9491.85 and intraday low of 9448.75.
Investors also remained on the sidelines ahead of the GST rollout from July 1. The government has planned a special midnight session of Parliament on 30 June to rollout the landmark tax regime.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 556.55,+3.35%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 317.40,+1.93%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2687.85,+1.56%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 551.45,+1.23%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2362.05,+1.17%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 263.00,-2.21%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1668.75,-1.98%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 375.75,-1.79%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1069.30,-1.69%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 429.20,-1.55%), among others.
Among the sectors, HCS index was at 14169.23 up by 184.49 points or by 1.32%. Lyka Labs Ltd. (Rs. 51.15,+4.82%), IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 54.30,+4.73%), Sequent Scientific Ltd. (Rs. 122.25,+4.40%), Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd. (Rs. 307.45,+4.38%), Unichem Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 269.00,+3.42%),.
On the flip side, CGS index was at 16896.78 down by -169.44 points or by -0.99%. Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1668.75,-1.98%), Kalpataru Power Transmissions Ltd. (Rs. 322.60,-1.00%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 80.10,-0.99%), Finolex Cables Ltd. (Rs. 457.00,-0.80%), Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 933.25,-0.71%),.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2528 , shares advanced were 1134 while 1216 shares declined and 178 were unchanged.
