Pre Session: Sensex likely to open positive; Lupin, Tata Steel in focus

Indian benchmark indices may open higher on Wednesday taking cues from Asian peers. Asian shares edged higher on Wednesday and the dollar fell to a three-week low after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell reinforced the US central bank’s recent shift toward a more “patient” approach on policy in the face of a slowing economy. US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un meet on Wednesday for their second summit, betting that their personal relationship can break a stalemate over the North’s nuclear weapons and end more than 70 years of hostility. Back home, bullish trends in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, were trading at 10,863.50 up 40.50.
