* AUTOMOBILES: Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said migration to electric vehicles needs to be planned to ensure the entire ecosystem is ready through a multi-year roadmap, echoing views of industry leaders who have called for a calibrated approach towards electric mobility.

* BANKING: The Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday reiterated its norm regarding local storage of payment system data, and made detailed clarifications on some requirements, amking it clear that it won't budge from the said norms. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Sarada Kumar Hota as managing director of National Housing Bank. The Reserve Bank of India stressed that all coins issued by the government that are in circulation currently are legal tender, and advised banks to accept these coins and notes at their counters, even in small denominations. The government accepted the resignation of Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Viral Acharya, with effect from Jul 23.

* ECONOMY: The Reserve Bank of India has released its final norms on rupee interest rate derivatives.

* ENERGY: India discussed a number of trade and energy security-related matters with US Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said.

* FINANCE: BSR & Associates LLP has resigned as the statutory auditor of IL&FS Financial Services. The Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services board will on Friday take up a proposal to release payments of creditors in 13 group entities. The government is likely to infuse capital of around 300-400 bln rupees into public sector banks in the current fiscal, and another 30-50 bln rupees into three general insurance companies.

* TAXATION: A task force that was set up to draft a new direct tax law, to replace the existing Income Tax Act, will now also look at the possibility of sharing information between agencies handling goods and services tax, customs, Financial Intelligence Unit and Central Board of Direct Taxes.
